What to do if you have binged in the middle of your perfect weight loss diet?

You have been good with your food and workout. You are finally seeing the results and feeling proud of yourself. Your cravings are under control, water intake is on point, sleep is better, and skin is looking better, and then BAM! You binged! Everything that was going great seems like an illusion. You took that small bite of cake, then the whole piece, and then added fries, chips, and all the yummy goodies you saw in front of you. Though you were conscious and decided to have a lighter next meal, you again binged.

Has this ever happened to you? How did it make you feel- fat, guilty, shameful? What did you do next? Yes, the crucial thing is what we do after the storm has passed. For many, it is a downward spiral till we yet again muster the self-discipline and the motivation to get back on track. I know how frustrating it can be seeing all your efforts getting wasted over that one small temptation.

Well, here is the thing, temptations will always exist, and you need to face them, sometimes very often at parties, hanging out with friends, celebrations, etc. Life is about enjoying as it people say- You only live once. So do we discard our health goals for living life to the fullest? Well, if you want to live well, you need to eat well and eat everything. Yes, this is the key- you should be able to eat everything. The problem happens when we deprive ourselves of certain foods, which cause excessive and prolonged bingeing.

Imagine if your diet had cake and chips, you would not go off track, would you? Now I am not saying you should eat cake every day when you are on your weight loss plan, but the idea is not to deprive your body of the foods you enjoy. So bake a small low-calorie cake for yourself once every few days and enjoy it. Then see how satisfied you feel after having a little cake at the party. You would want to give your body nourishment rather than just empty food, so instead of chips, you might enjoy the meal served, or even if you eat chips, you would stop after a few.

So you enjoyed yourself, indulged a bit, and got right back on track. If you have frequent outings, your body is best to guide you in choosing the right foods for you. You might even surprise yourself by eating a well-balanced calorie counted meal before you go to the party. That’s how smart our body is, so trust it, nourish it and, it will be your best friend.
